If you’re exploring ways to immigrate to Canada, the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) is one of the most approachable and well-structured immigration pathways available in 2025.

New Brunswick, with its coastal charm, growing job market, and affordable lifestyle, continues to attract skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs from around the world. Its provincial nominee program offers multiple routes to Canadian permanent residency (PR) through both Express Entry–linked and base streams.

What is the New Brunswick PNP (NBPNP)?

The NBPNP enables the province to nominate candidates with the right skills, work experience, and education to support its economy.

Those nominated through an Express Entry–linked stream receive a 600-point boost in their federal CRS score — a near guarantee of an invitation for permanent residence in an upcoming Express Entry draw.

However, each stream has its own eligibility conditions. Below is a concise breakdown of all available options.

Main NBPNP Streams

The two primary pathways under the New Brunswick PNP are:

  1. Express Entry Stream
  2. Skilled Worker Stream

In addition, several pilot and business-focused programs remain active or may reopen depending on labour needs.

1. Express Entry Stream

This stream targets highly skilled candidates connected to New Brunswick either through current employment or provincial interest.

Employment in New Brunswick Pathway

  • Minimum 12 months of full-time employment in NB.
  • Job must be classified under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3.
  • Applicant must have lived in NB for those 12 months.

New Brunswick Interests Pathway

  • No job offer required.
  • The province must issue a Letter of Interest (LOI) through your Express Entry profile.
  • Requires at least one year of skilled work experience in the past 10 years (TEER 0–3).

2. Skilled Worker Stream

This option suits candidates already working or recently educated in New Brunswick.

NB Experience

  • At least six months of full-time work in NB with one employer.

NB Graduates

  • Graduates from a PGWP-eligible DLI in NB who hold a full-time job offer.

Priority Occupations (Paused for 2025)

  • Previously aimed at high-demand roles, currently paused this year.

Note: 18 occupations (including restaurant supervisors, cooks, administrative assistants, and retail salespersons) are currently excluded. Always confirm the updated NOC list before applying.

Invitation Trends in 2025

  • 2,675 invitations have been issued through the Skilled Worker Stream, and
  • 392 invitations through the Express Entry Stream (as of mid-2025).

These figures reflect the province’s consistent focus on attracting skilled professionals.

Other Streams & Pilots

New Brunswick also runs several targeted initiatives:

  • Strategic Initiative Stream – encourages French-speaking applicants.
  • Critical Worker Pilot – five-year employer-driven pilot addressing labour shortages.
  • Private Career College Graduate Pilot – for approved private college graduates in NB.
  • Business / Entrepreneur Stream – supports investors and entrepreneurs planning to start or acquire businesses in the province.

These specialized programs may open or close depending on provincial demand.

How to Apply

For Non–Express Entry Streams

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the INB Portal.
  2. If invited, file the full application within 20 days.
  3. Await nomination and then apply to IRCC for PR.

For Express Entry–Linked Streams

  1. Create an Express Entry profile indicating NB as your destination.
  2. Upon receiving a Letter of Interest, submit your EOI through INB.
  3. Accept your nomination in your IRCC account to gain +600 CRS points.
  4. Expect an invitation to apply for PR shortly after.

EOIs remain valid for 365 days and must be renewed if no invitation is received within that period.

Tips for a Stronger Application

✅ Select the stream that matches your professional background.
