Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

The Post‑Graduation Work Permit lets graduates from eligible Canadian institutions gain valuable Canadian work experience, making them stronger PR candidates.

How It Works

  1. Graduate from a designated learning institution (DLI) and apply for your PGWP within 180 days of graduation (or within 90 days if your study permit expires earlier).

  2. Meet eligibility requirements—for degree programs (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD), all fields are eligible; for non-degree programs, your field must align with an eligible Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code. As of June 25, 2025, IRCC added 119 fields and removed 178 from the eligibility list; updated CIP codes apply.

Why It's Worth It

  • Provides up to 3 years of open work experience in Canada.

  • Work experience under PGWP helps boost your CRS for Express Entry.

  • Offers flexibility and career-building time post-graduation.

At Nivara Immigration, we’ll confirm your program’s eligibility, help you understand new CIP criteria, and guide you through your PGWP application with precision.
