Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) to select immigrants who have the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to their local economies. Each province designs its own streams, often targeting workers in specific occupations, international graduates, or those with job offers in the region.
Provinces use the PNP to address their unique labour market needs and attract newcomers who are more likely to settle and thrive locally. Whether you’re aiming for Ontario’s tech-driven streams, Alberta’s agriculture focus, or Atlantic Canada’s healthcare opportunities, there’s a wide range of options.
How PNP Works
Choose your province/stream: Each province has different eligibility requirements, often based on in-demand occupations or ties to the region.
Apply for a nomination: Submit your application directly to that province or territory’s immigration authority. Some streams require an Express Entry profile; others follow a non‑Express Entry process.
Get nominated: If nominated, you’ll receive a Provincial Nominee Certificate. For Express Entry streams, you then update your profile to reflect the nomination-earning an additional 600 CRS points, which almost guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Submit your PR application: Submit your PR application online (within Express Entry) or via the Permanent Residence Portal (non‑Express Entry), along with required forms and supporting documents.
Why Choose PNP?
Targeted to your profession or background: Provinces design streams around their local labour market needs—your skills may align better somewhere specific.
Huge boost via Express Entry: A PNP nomination gives you 600 CRS points—a near‑certain path to an ITA.
Flexibility through non-Express Entry routes: Even without an Express Entry profile, some provinces offer paper‑based pathways to PR (via the Permanent Residence Portal).
At Nivara Immigration, we help you identify the best province and stream based on your background, guide you through the nomination application, and assist with PR submission to make your journey as smooth as possible.
Heads-Up
PNP streams and eligibility rules change frequently. Always double-check the criteria on IRCC’s site and the immigration portal of your target province before applying.
